LOTS of changes...

Alright, a lot is going on and is about to change for me. Which is not hard in the amount of time betweeen posts (sorry). I suck at this frequent posting thing.

Ok, the biggest news first. I've quit my job to go back to school. Again. Friday is officially my last day to be employed by Lubbock Christian University, the beloved Alma Mater. I can't say that I am sad. I love LCU, but working in an extremely unhealthy office environment, is difficult no matter where it is. A weight has been lifted.

I'm pursuing a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I'm very excited. It is a great program and I can't wait to get started. I can hear you all asking, "When do you move, where are you gonna live?" Well...I'm not moving. I'm commuting. HAHA. All my classes are on Mondays so I'll drive up Sunday night, go to class from 9am to 9pm on Monday, and drive home. Crazy? Probably, but I've left Rachel once before and it did not turn out so well!! So I'll be spending a lot of gas money, but it's worth it.

That being said, I'm looking for a new job. I would like to find something that 1. would be flexible enough to work around my school, 2. would be something in the social service field, and 3. would pay decent. I don't want to have to live off loans if I don't have to. So if any of you out there know of anything like that in the Lubbock area, let me know! I'm thinking Children's Home or Communities in Schools, or something. I'm very flexible!!

Let's see...what else...OH!! SOCCER!! I've put together an indoor soccer team again. It is a random group of guys, but we're actually pretty decent. Especially when you consider that some of these guys have NEVER played soccer and the rest of us haven't played in a few years. We are in the last (worst) group, but we're kicking butt. We'll have to move up next season, but that will be ok. Here is a little taste of what the experience is like.

I've been told it is quite a spectacle and a joy to watch!!

Well, maybe I should end now, I have to go look for a job. More to come later!

Oh how gross and sweaty you all look! How fun! It's about time you updated jerk! I'm excited for you about grad school... not envious of the commute though! Hey, I think Adam McCormick is commuting to UTA on Mondays too. How much fun if y'all could hang out, huh? A little piece of the old days. Maybe while you're unemployed you'll have more time to update, eh?

If you have your bachelor's degree in social work, there may be a job at UMC as a Crisis Intervention Counselor in the emergency room. It's incredibly flexible, the pay is decent, and I know that they just recently lost someone, so check it out. The contact is Joe Dell Patterson at UMC. They'll be REALLY glad that you're working on your MSW (as will most social service places). Some places may even have tuition reimbursement, so ask about that. I don't know if UMC does or not. I worked there for 2 years and LOVED it!! I met all kinds of crazy people! Good luck!

Um...don't know of any jobs, sorry. Good luck on the commute! BE CAREFUL.

Good luck in school, good luck in your relationship. Good luck!

Blessings, brother!

Good for you for going back to school. I hope you learn lots and have fun. Take care commuting, since you'll be driving at crazy hours.

You should ask Adam & Carrie Tungate if they know of anything in social services you could do. They both have degrees in SW.

The picture of you, Kent and Brandon is hilarious. I love it! Have fun kicking booty.

That is the funniest picture! Glad you guys are having fun. Your comment on my last blog was hysterical ... I was rolling on the floor with laughter! (i read it while sitting on the floor...)

I miss you and should start being a good friend. I'm proud of you and know you will be great in all your new changes.

hey man, i bet we will be seeing a lot of each other. i will be working on my ph.d. in the same building on monday nights. seriously, email me if you want any sugestions on teachers/classes. i had some really good teachers during my masters work. i learned more throughout the 15 months doing my masters than i did throughout my entire bachelors.
i would check with all the texas state agencies, mainly the dept of health to see if they need any contract case managers in lubbock. that is what i did while in school, and i got to do my own hours. let me know if you need any help, i will see what i can do.

Hey, good for you!
I pray that everything works out for your best in this. It's great to do what we've been led to do.

As far as jobs go, if anyone says, "Oh, there's always substitute teaching . . ." - run. Run far, far away.

Can't wait to hear how it all goes! And, um, that picture is gross/funny . . . I'm not sure which one:).

Jobwise, you might also consider the Shouth Plains children's shelter. The CHoL is great too but the pay is much higher at the shelter. As a last resort you could sub too. Good luck!

I'm glad everything worked out for grad school. I'm also glad you're not leaving Rachel b/c we didn't like the results last time any more than you did! We're glad you're still around and we're praying for a smooth transition in the next several weeks to come.
